High kicks, hard truths, and a fight for justice—Mainetti brings kung fu to the Eternal City
To mark the highly anticipated release of La Città Proibita, Gabriele Mainetti’s bold new venture into the world of martial arts cinema, an exclusive press junket was set up to match the film’s dynamic energy. Against a striking backdrop inspired by the neon-lit streets of Piazza Vittorio—Rome’s own Chinatown—journalists and TV crews gathered for a series of one-on-one interviews with the cast and director.
Mainetti, alongside Yaxi Liu, Enrico Borello, Sabrina Ferilli, and Marco Giallini, shared behind-the-scenes stories of intense stunt training, fight choreography, and the deeper themes of vengeance, resilience, and cultural clash that fuel the film’s heart-pounding narrative.
Adding to the immersive atmosphere was a sleek photocall, featuring the film’s logotitle, providing a striking yet minimalist backdrop for talent and press alike.
Between set-piece combat sequences and moments of raw emotion, La Città Proibita is more than just a genre film—it’s a fearless fusion of East and West, tradition and reinvention. And as the cast revealed during the press event, it’s also a deeply personal passion project that pushes the boundaries of Italian cinema in exhilarating new directions.
